Daughter of a Shepherd - Heritage DK
Complex and completely natural, dark pitch brown in colour with a reddish tint thatĀ becomes silvery grey or tan inĀ different lights. A soft, somewhat drapey, lustrous handle producesĀ aĀ fabric with bounce and structure whenĀ knitted. The yarn retains its original (and famous) signature scent ofĀ the fields, flock and new lambs in straw-filled barns.
FinestĀ grade 1Ā Hebridean fleece from the late summer 2019 clip of a flock in Yorkshire is blended with Zwartbles fibreĀ from Exmoor, not far from theĀ mill where the yarn is spun.Ā
We do not second scour the yarn after spinning so advise you make and wash a swatch to realise theĀ full potential of theĀ yarn before starting your project.
Rachel's passion for the importance of provenance, collaborating with both shepherds, mills, designers and weavers has been a wonder to watch unfold over the last few years. We love her, her yarn and her story. See more of her story on ourĀ youtube channelĀ as well as ourĀ Instagram TVĀ channel.
